Cala Escondida, Ibiza

Tucked away beside the famous Cala Comte (Cala Conta), Cala Escondida is a tiny hidden beach on Ibiza’s west coast. With clear turquoise water, a natural setting and spectacular Mediterranean sunsets, this secluded cove is a lovely alternative to the busier beaches nearby.

A Hidden Cove Near Cala Comte

Cala Escondida is one of the smaller coves that make up the beautiful Cala Comte coastline. The beach combines a small area of sand with rocky surroundings and wonderfully clear water.

Its discreet location gives Cala Escondida a more intimate atmosphere than the main beaches at Cala Comte. The cove is also traditionally clothing optional, adding to its relaxed, free-spirited Ibiza character.

The clear water and rocky seabed make this a good place for swimming and snorkelling when sea conditions are calm.

Sunset at Cala Escondida

Ibiza’s west coast is famous for its sunsets, and Cala Escondida offers a fantastic viewpoint. Offshore islands create a beautiful backdrop as the sun drops towards the Mediterranean, making late afternoon and early evening particularly special.

Sunset boat trips and private yachts can often be seen offshore, while those on the beach can enjoy the changing colours from this peaceful little corner of the Cala Comte coastline.

Beach Bar

One of Cala Escondida’s charms is its laid-back beach atmosphere. A small chiringuito has traditionally provided drinks and simple food beside the sea, although facilities at this little cove are naturally more limited than at the neighbouring main beaches of Cala Comte.

Getting to Cala Escondida

Cala Escondida is located in the Cala Comte area of Sant Josep de sa Talaia, on the western side of Ibiza.

Parking is available around the Cala Comte area. From there, Cala Escondida is reached on foot, with steps leading down towards the small cove. Because access involves steps and the beach itself is compact, it may not be suitable for everyone.

During the busy summer months, arriving earlier in the day is advisable as Cala Comte is one of Ibiza’s most popular beach destinations.
